Roguewood Furniture is constructed from solid, sustainably harvested American hardwoods. We never use particleboard or other secondary wood-based products.
Our beautiful oak, maple and cherry woods are harvested in Pennsylvania and West Virginia, and primarily come from forests owned by Portland, Oregon-based Collins Wood, which is renowned for its sustainable forest management practices.
Some of our collections feature “quarter-sawn” oak, which is named according to the specialized process by which it is milled. Rather than feeding a log into a mill for flat sawing, the whole log must first be quartered (hence the name) and then each quarter is sawn separately. This milling process takes more time and talent, which is why we can only find a few Amish mills who can still produce quality quarter-sawn oak, but the resulting tight, horizontal grain pattern in the boards creates truly gorgeous furniture.
Finally, one of the most sustainable aspects of our furniture is the use of solid hardwoods, which can stand up to years of use without deterioration. In an era dominated by “disposable” particleboard furniture, you can rest assured that we measure the longevity of Roguewood Furniture in the number of generations, not a handful of years.
