This vessel won a gold entry in an embellishing completion for the Honolulu Woodturners Association. This is made from Milo wood, a precious hard wood found near the coast of the pacific islands. Tahitians used such wood for tribal drums. This wood is now a protected species and now requires permits to fell certain trees. I so happened to pass a private property that was removing Milo roots from their property and was lucky enough to leave with a giant haul.
